Albania is visited by about 400,000 tourists a year, and that number is growing every year by more than 15%! Tourism in Albania, unfortunately, is still in its infancy because the former communist regime did not allow the development of the tourism industry to become a full part of the economy. Groups of Western tourists were allowed to visit the country for the first time only in 1980.

Apollonia (Apollonia) is the largest ancient Greek port. It was founded back in 588 BC by settlers from Corinth and Corfu. Apollonia is located in the country of the Illyrian tribe of talent, on the right bank of the river Aoi (in our time is the name of the river Vjosa). Apollonia is located about 10 kilometers from the confluence Vjosa the Adriatic Sea.

In recent years almost the whole hotel base has been renovated and several new luxurious hotels have been built as well as many apartment complexes. It is widely believed in Bulgaria that Sunny Beach was heavily overdeveloped in the 2000s to the detriment of its greenery, former serenity, safety, and the quality of public services.
